Frequently asked questions

The below are our most commonly asked questions and answers about dual schooling as a model, the Accelerator, and the Academy.

What is “dual schooling” vs. dual enrollment?

Dual enrollment (or concurrent enrollment) is one tactic—taking college courses while in high school. Dual schooling is the broader strategy: deliberately combining multiple institutions and experiences (college, CTE, certificates, internships, jobs) under one plan that still satisfies graduation and pathway requirements for your program of record.

Do I still need another high school, homeschool program, or charter?

Accelerator: yes—you keep (or arrange for) your own school of record. We provide a Dual Schooling Playbook, software for a personalized educational plan, 10 one-hour academic coaching sessions, enrollment and registration support, and a 24/7 Dual Enrollment Support Desk. We do this to help you execute dual schooling through a district, charter, private school, or homeschool program you’re already using or planning to use. We don’t enroll you as a Dual School high school student or award a diploma through the Accelerator.

Dual School Academy: no—that’s the point. Academy students enroll at Dual School as their high school. You don’t need to patch together a separate homeschool filing or stay enrolled at another high school as your “real” school while we help on the side. Your graduation path is through Dual School Academy. College courses you take still award credit from those colleges, the same way dual enrollment works for any high school student. Furthermore, if you are in California, Dual School Academy is set up to take advantage of the University of California’s Transfer Admission Guarantee program, which guarantees your student’s choice of six UC schools.

When should we choose Dual School Academy?

Choose Academy when you want Dual School to be your school: enrollment and high school graduation here, with 1:1 mentorship, active planning, administrative support, and professional tools in one program. It is the right fit when you are done juggling another homeschool or high school enrollment just to access dual schooling—and want a full-service team beyond the Accelerator.

Can we start with the Accelerator and later move to the Academy (or vice versa)?

Yes. Families’ needs change; we’re happy to discuss what a transition looks like after initial milestones are met (e.g., after a transfer plan is stable).

What about social life and extracurriculars?

Dual schooling often creates time for sports, work, and community when the schedule is designed intentionally— but social connection still takes planning: clubs, cohorts, local classes, athletics, faith or service groups, etc. Academy conversations include how to structure time without isolating students.

How do you think about AI and academic integrity?

We treat AI as a tool students must learn to use ethically: for scaffolded practice, feedback, and productivity—not for misrepresenting mastery. Specific tool access may vary by tier and partner agreements.

What if my student isn’t college-bound?

Dual schooling still applies: CTE pathways, certificates, and work-based learning can be central. The map changes; the need for coordination does not. We align support to the student’s stated goals.

How does billing work?

For both the Accelerator and Academy you have the option to be billed in full at the beginning of the year or monthly payments based on a one-year contract.
